Hello Silverton Sharks and Parents!
My name is Annah Riedel and I have been selected to serve as the Head Coach of 2012 Silverton Sharks! This will be my fifth year coaching and my sixteenth summer around the Silverton pool. I started swimming on the team when I was just four years of age. I was no fish at the start, in fact I had a great fear of water and it took a little time for me to get acquainted. Once I was, I could not get enough; that’s when my parents had me start swimming year round at the Cary Family YMCA. At the time, it was called CY or Capital YMCA swimming, now many of you might know it as YOTA. I swam for 10 years and really had a great passion for the sport. I attended Panther Creek High School all four years and was Captain of the team my junior and senior year. I competed in the 4-A State’s meet two times to compete on behalf of my school and I now swim for leisure, fun, and exercise. I am a rising junior at North Carolina State and I am studying Elementary Education. I am constantly pursuing mentoring and volunteer opportunities instilling a passion for growth and knowledge into the children that I serve. I am very excited to bring some fun, fresh ideas to the team this summer. I look forward to seeing everyone again and to see how many kids have surpassed me in height! Hope all is well, see you in May! Have a great day!
Thanks again,
Annah |

Hey Sharks!
My name is Jennifer Patetta and I will be one of the assistant coaches for the 2012 Silverton Sharks! I look forward to my third year coaching the Sharks! I have been around on the team for almost 11 years and enjoy every year of it. Each year brings new experiences, new faces, and new memories. When I first started swimming, my parents could not get me out of the water. I work with many younger swimmers just like I was and enjoy teaching them new techniques to help them achieve their goals. I attend Cary High and was on their varsity swim team, as well as a Senior Captain my senior year. I plan to attend a four year college next year, after graduating in June, and eventually become a physical therapist. This swim team actually helped me think of this possible major because of how often I am surrounded by people that look to me for help. I am incredibly excited for another year here at Silverton and ready to help swimmers become just as excited about swimming as I am. I know when I was a kid, summer swim team was always something I looked forward to. See you all in May!

I was born and raised in Cary. I have swum for the Silverton Swim team since I was four and have been swimming year round for a year and a half. I am a senior at Cary High School and will be attending NCSU’s College of Engineering in the fall. This is my third year coaching Silverton. I swam high school swimming for four years and made the State team my senior year. I earned my Eagle Scout Award when I was thirteen and a half. I am looking forward to an amazing year with all the excited kids who are ready to swim. |

Hello to all the fantastic Silverton Sharks and parents! This summer will be my second year coaching at Silverton. I had an incredible experience as a Junior Coach last year! After last season, I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. So, unfortunately, you all won’t be able to see me at the pool until June 18th (school lets out much later here), but I am so blessed that I can come back again this year! As for my swimming career, I can still remember the very first time I ever swam; it was at Silverton when I was about three years old. I was usually a reserved kid, but that day found that I wanted to keep pushing myself farther into the water, away from the shallow end. I fell in love with the water that day, and have always felt a passion for swimming ever since. I wasn’t amazing from the start, but I firmly believe it was the incredible coaching staff at Silverton 12 years ago that gave me the skills, confidence, and passion that I needed to succeed. I started swim lessons at Silverton when I was 4 years old, and continued that until I was 5, when I joined the Sharks. Since then, I have swam for Silverton for 9 years, New Wave Swim Team for 10, Cary Academy Swim team for 2, Cary High School for 2, and just completed my first year on Pioneer High School Swim Team. I continued swimming up until the “big move” this summer, where I found that year-round teams here weren’t for me. That is one of the many reasons I strived to come back this summer. I feel as if I was made a swimmer because of the wonderful coaching staff at Silverton, and it is an honor to give back to all the Sharks today. I can only hope to be as much of a role model as the coaches were to me those many years ago. I look forward to coaching again this summer, and meeting new and returning swimmers!! See you all in June! |

Hey guys!
I'm Coach Jacob and I'm very excited for this season! This is my first year as a junior coach for Silverton, but this will be my tenth summer swimming for Silverton. I also swim year-round with New Wave Swim Team and this is my second year swimming for them. I am a rising junior at GRACE Christian School and have also participated on the swim team there for the past two seasons.
Swimming is obviously a very big part of my life. ;) I'm very excited for this summer and can't wait to meet all the swimmers! Go Sharks! |
